The new diet

So at the beginning of the year I tried to lose 10 pounds. I was inspired by Sheilas fat flush diet. So I got the cranberry juice but thought if I just monitored my portions and cut out soda and fast food I would be alright. I lost 4 pounds. Then was our anniversary and my birthday. Being married to a Chef and being in the Fontaine family in general it is pretty difficult to lose weight. I wish I had better self control but lets face it I have everything going against me. Larry cooks great food in mass quantities, I have tried over the years to convince him we only can eat so much at a sitting but I am out voted every meal he cooks :). So needless to say I gained some back. Then Sheila and her family came out and gained the rest back plus 1...HOLY CRAP!


So now here I am starting at the beginning plus 1. While Sheila was here we came across this great little used book store downtown Renton. Sheila found a couple books on the Flat Belly Diet. I read some of the meals and OMG a diet designed for me. I can still eat cereal in the morning with milk. Anyone who knows me knows my addiction to milk. Granted I caved and bought skim milk and organic unsweetened cereal with FLAX, yes Sheila you read it right Im eating FLAX,. But this is a diet I actually think I can keep up after the designated 30 days.




So the first four day are like a detox to decrease you're bloat. Instead of the cranberry juice water they have a ginger, lemon, cucumber concoction. Since Sheila left some cranberry here I will be using that till its gone. Ive actually gotten use to it. Then they tell you what to eat at every meal. The one thing you have to do is eat a MUFA with every meal. And what the hell is that you ask? MUFA is Monounsaturated fat.


I didn't get a chance to go to the store till after breakfast so my Breakfast consisted of a berry smoothie with some plain yogurt and ice. So here is what I ate.
Breakfast: Berry Smoothie with yogurt and ice
Lunch : 4 oz of organic deli turkey
low fat string cheese
1 pint of grape tomatoes
and cran water
I didn't get my snack cause I had to work so I just kept drinking my cran water
Dinner (which I cooked myself)
1cup cooked green beans
4 oz grilled Halibut with some dill and lemon, little olive oil, salt and pepper
The diet called for Talapia but after watching Andrew Zimmern talk about how Talapia is raised I will never eat that fish and hey I have fresh Halibut in the freezer.
1/2 cup roaster red potatoes with olive oil
Then I finished my cranwater before bed.
